The Ultimate Guide for Pokemon Saiph

Pokemon Saiph

Creator: Vytron

Progress: Completed

Platform: Game Boy Advance

Hack of: Pokemon Fire Red

Pokemon Saiph is a rom hack with an original story and an art style inspired by Pokemon Black and White. This game starts off in a whole new region called Colen. You’ll start your journey from Colen and your quest will lead you to clash with a new evil team called Team Void. And in the post-game, you’ll even get to explore some parts of Hoenn.

Who is this game for?

If you’re looking for a new Pokemon game with a new story, map, characters, etc. then this game is for you.

However, this game is NOT for you if you’re looking for a challenging Pokemon game with high difficulty.

Features and additions

Colen region

Pokemon Saiph is the unofficial sequel to Pokemon Rangers Shadows of Almia. It has a whole new region for you to explore. Here’s a synopsis of the story by the game creator himself:

One day, the Old Mauville has exploded, and started to spread huge waves of radiation. The Crystal was moved to a hidden laboratory in Colen and was protected as a Top Secret weapon. The entire West Hoenn had to be evacuated, including your home town, Littleroot Town. These people were moved to the Colen Region, a region relatively close to Hoenn.

Physical/special split

Yes, Pokemon Saiph, like most rom hacks these days, comes with a physical/special split and allows your favorite Pokémon to use moves from a wider variety of types.

Fairy types

Yes, Pokemon Saiph has Fairy typing on all intended Pokemon like Gardevoir, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, etc.

Reusable TMs

You can use TMs as many times as you like. Just like HMs.

It’ll definitely feel nice not having to worry about using your one and only Earthquake TM.

Modern repel system

The game will automatically ask if you want to use another Repel immediately once the effect of your current Repel wears off (as long as you have another Repel in the bag).

Day/night system

This game has a day-and-night cycle with morning, day, and night timings.

How to download

You can download the game by clicking on one of the following MediaFire links provided by the game creator himself:

Glitches

Now for some bad news: this game has a lot of glitches and visual errors. Many of them got resolved thanks to the 2020 patch but you’ll still likely encounter them from time to time.

This is why you should save the game every five minutes. It’ll save (pun intended) you from a world of trouble.

Demo version:

  • Rival character regularly glitches (reason explained in the full game)
  • Some tiny graphical bugs with the ‘ and ” symbols
  • Evaluating the PokéDex will muck up the Poké Marts
  • Don’t start a quest and leave it unfinished
  • Lillipup’s cry is traumatizing

Full version:

  • Rival character regularly glitches (reason explained in the full game)
  • Some tiny graphical bugs with the ‘ and ” symbols
  • Game freezes when you attempt quest from Anne Bridge
  • Make a save before you face Shenow on Light Island (reset the game if you lose)
  • Don’t use Riolu as it’s glitchy
  • Don’t check habitats in the PokéDex
  • Other small graphical errors (they don’t affect the game)

Full version 2020 patch:

  • Some tiny graphical bugs with the ‘ and ” symbols
  • Make a save before you face Shenow on Light Island (reset the game if you lose)
  • Other small graphical errors (they don’t affect the game)

Notes from the creator

  • Buildings don’t have outlines because the creator feels it gives more depth to the environment.
  • The grammar in certain parts of the game is incorrect due to technical reasons.
  • Patch the game with NUPS (on PC) and play it on VBA.
  • Quests have been removed from the 2020 Patch.
  • Engine bugs (like trade evolution) couldn’t be fixed in the 2020 Patch.

Pokemon Saiph cheats

I recommend always entering cheats as either GameShark or Code Breaker.

Also, if you want to make things a bit more easier, use emulators like MyBoy (Android). They can automatically detect a cheat type.

Note: Be careful not to use too many cheats or to turn them on simultaneously as this can cause the game to crash.
